It’s that time of the year again!
Christmas is right around the corner. Unfortunately, many people cannot afford to buy a real Christmas tree for their house. In this article, I will tell you some easy steps on how to make your own Christmas tree from your garden and save money by doing so!
First off, you will need to gather the necessary supplies.
Tools:
• Shovel/ spade
• Gloves (optional, but highly recommended)
Materials:
• A large garden trowel or small shovel with a wide blade, can be used instead of the spade if desired. This is for creating holes where you will place the tree.
• A round scoop, can be used as a hole maker if desired. This is for creating holes where you will place the tree.
• String or a thick rope
• Wires, this can be any kind of wire that is thick and sturdy enough to hold your Christmas tree shape. Optional: Glue gun with glue sticks
Now that you have gathered all of your supplies, it is time to get started on making your Christmas tree!
The first step is to find a good spot in your garden to place your tree. Make sure the spot has plenty of sunlight and is not too close to any trees or other structures that may block the light.
Once you have found the perfect spot, take your shovel or spade and dig a hole about 2 feet deep and 1 foot across.
The next step is to place your tree in the hole. You can use any type of tree for this project, but make sure it is not poisonous if you are using plants.
Once you have placed the tree in the hole, push it until about 4-5 inches of the tree is sticking up from the ground.
Next, take your string or rope and tie a knot around one end of it. Then thread it through either side of your Christmas tree and pull as tightly as you can at both ends to secure the tree in place.
Once you have secured the tree in place, it is time to start shaping it into a Christmas tree!
Take your wire and starting at the top of the tree, wrap it around the trunk several times. Make sure the wire is nice and tight so it will hold the tree’s shape.
Do the same thing for the branches, wrapping the wire around them to hold them in place.
Once you have finished shaping your tree, it is time to decorate it!
You can use any type of Christmas decorations you want, but make sure they are weather-proof if you are going to be leaving the tree outside.
There you have it! Your very own, homemade Christmas tree!
